Part of what makes PinQast useful comes from people: reports of what was felt, photos of what happened, and the location shared with a circle. When somebody decides whether to leave the house by looking at that, a false report stops being a joke. These guidelines say what is expected, and they form part of the Terms & Conditions.
Report what you saw
- Report what you noticed yourself, where you were, when it happened.
- If you are unsure about the intensity or the time, say so: an uncertain data point is worth more than an invented one.
- Do not exaggerate or repeat a report to push it up. Reports feed models: noise is paid back in worse alerts for everyone.
Photos
- Upload only your own photos, of the place and moment you are describing.
- No stock images and no pictures of another disaster presented as what just happened.
- Avoid faces and licence plates of people who have not agreed, and do not upload images of the injured or the dead.
- Do not upload anything you do not have the right to upload.
Location belongs to whoever shares it
- Invite to your circle only people who know you are inviting them and want to be there.
- Do not use a circle to control anyone, or to find out where someone is who does not want you to know.
- Do not publish or forward another person's location outside PinQast.
- Anyone may turn on incognito or leave a circle at any time, and that is not up for discussion.
What is not allowed
- false alerts, or drills presented as real events;
- impersonating an authority, a news outlet or another person;
- harassment, threats, hate or incitement to harm;
- other people's personal data posted without their permission;
- promotion, spam or recruitment;
- sexual content, gratuitous violence, or material that harms children;
- automating contributions or creating multiple accounts to inflate a report.
What we do when something breaks the rules
Depending on severity and repetition: we remove the content, stop counting it in the models, limit the account or close it. Where someone's life is at risk we act immediately and, where appropriate, inform the authorities. We are not obliged to review everything that is posted, and removing something does not make us the author of the rest.
Reporting a problem
Use the report link next to the content or write to [email protected], telling us what you saw and where. If you believe we removed something of yours by mistake, reply and we will review it.
Changes
These guidelines will change as what people can contribute grows. We will update the date above and say inside the service when something matters.
